Business Plan - Idea Info
The Idea Info tab is where you can input a basic overview for your idea page. This is the first info people will see when you share an idea page with someone or they view it while browsing.
The Idea Title will be the title your idea is listed under on Umergence. You can change it if you need to, but since it affects the page, you may want to choose it carefully. When creating a Business Plan, you may not have a company established or an official name for your product/service. It’s ok to use your best estimate at what you think it’ll be. Try to think of something clear and memorable.
The Thumbnail Image will be displayed on the idea page in the top left corner and be one of the first things visitors to the page will see. If you have a business logo or stylized branding image, this will be a great place to use it. Click the button to upload an image and adjust the sizing or crop in the editor that pops up. A thumbnail image is optional, but highly recommended to make a page look more professional. You can always change it later.
The Cover Image is the main image that will display on an idea page as its banner. This will be what visitors see when browsing and when they visit your idea page. It is optional, but highly recommended to make the page look more professional. Click the button to upload an image and adjust the sizing or crop in the editor that pops up. Because the image will be displayed in a rectangular field, good choices are images where a wide rectangular ratio will be attractive. Try to pick something visually appealing and if you’re not sure, use an image of a color or design as a placeholder. You can always change it later.
The Short Description is your one or two-line summary of your business – what exactly do you do? Be clear and concise because this field is limited to 140 characters. The shorter you can be, the better. When you pitch to customers and investors you’ll have to convey your business in one or two powerful lines to draw them in. Use that description here.
The Full Description field gives you more space to expand on the summary of your business. You still want this to be brief, but you can go into a little more detail to get people interested and help them understand how your business works. This will be the first detail people read about your business when they visit the page. Once your business plan is fully formed and ready for funding, you’ll want to use this section to highlight bullet points of traction, milestones you’ve achieved, or other key selling points of interest to a potential investor.
Tag Names are subject tags to help people find your page when they search (if you decide to make it public). You can add several but the first few should be the most important, specific subject tags that relate to your page. Start typing the tag in the box and hit enter to save it. You can remove tags by clicking the “x” displayed on the tag after it’s accepted into the box.
Click Save and Continue to move on to the next step.
